We Met Someone!

After visiting http://www.ntrf.org/, a new testament / house church informational web site, we were able to make some contacts.

Those contacts called their contacts and so on, and well, we were invited to have dinner at a kind family's house, within a 15 minute drive.

They are a family of 5. We sang some hymns after dinner, talked about solor heating and finally milk goats. Since they raise goats for milk themselves, they had a lot of tips. Now, though I've only touched cows milk to my lips, after this talk, we are considering raising goats for milk ourselves. The real test will be this spring, when their goats calve, and I taste the milk...

They sent us home; but not empty handed. Home-cultivated honey, bar soap, liquid laundry soap, and a bag of hickory nuts were given to us.

They are part of the church here in the Jefferson City, Missouri area; who meet in homes on a regular basis. We hope to meet them again.

We also look forward to introducing our beloved friends, who will arrive after their long journey, God willing, by April. These are the friends who hail from the far away land of Arizona; where the prickly's prick you, and the sands ride the wind.

  1. If y'all want goats for milk, you can have it. We tried store bought goat's milk and it was disgusting, but we are willing to give home grown goats milk a shot (James said to emphasize A SHOT).

We are excited that you finally met some of the church there and we look forward to meeting them too. Happy fellowshipping!!!

  2. This family prefers goats milk to cow's. He did say that in the spring, the goats milk can taste racid or sour because of some chemical compostition in new plant growth.

However, an old-timer directed him to feed the goats a certain supplement (I forget what it is) in the spring time. He said within days the milk was good tasting again.

  3. We are going to be getting animals this spring I hope. I wonder how Josiah will take to milking them? LOL That is what Seth always wanted for us so Im kinda excited! We have about 20 chickens who lay eggs when its not too cold! They are yummy! But the roosters sure are mean and honry (sp?) We want sheep, cows and rabbits. The rabbits will be Kira's responsibility and the the sheep will be Josiah and Tristan's. Troy and I will probably have to tend the cows since they are so big. Getting a few buffalo might be in the far future too. Who would of thought we would be where we are today about 11 years ago? God is good, and he works out good for all those who love Him ! May be you and Dana can come out soon? I think Josiah would really like that.

  4. The milk from Goats depends on what they are fed. We had delicious milk in Minnesota many years ago - 4 gallons a week.
Good to hear you are there.
